Compatible Opposites

Q : What are 'Compatible opposites'???
A : Husband & Wife :)

As funny as it sounds, I have come to believe that only this combination of words can explain the relationship between a husband and a wife. As I look forward to my wedding day, I can't help but wonder how two people (like me and my boyfriend) will be able to find that balance that will keep us together through thick and thin.

The first couple that amazed me were 'Mom & Dad'. Mom being the shy, soft spoken and emotional person that she is and Dad the Loud and the most Practical person in my life. They are like the railway tracks, moving in the same direction yet in their own different path. All their differences seemed insignificant when it came to making each other happy. I asked my dad once why they argue so much... My dad said "If a couple argues it means that they are not afraid to tell the other what is in their mind". I didn't understand that as a kid, The fact that I am able to speak my mind proves that I know, he will still love me. They loved each other and we could all see it. If we (My Boyfriend & I) can make each other half as happy as they made each other, I'd consider myself lucky

My amazement continues as the nervousness and the countdown to the wedding started. But every-time my fear increased, watching two couples instilled some faith in me that I too will be able to complete my compatible opposite.

H & V are 'Roll-reversal Experts' and two halves of a circle. Their personalities are so different. They change everyday and they change together. They are not the people they were when they married each other. H becomes V and V becomes H,as and when the situation demands. Hence, the balance is maintained :). They complete each other. They fight one day and the next day they do exactly what they refused to do the previous day.

S & S, Yeah their names start with the same alphabet, but I only wish I could say they were the same kind of people. S & S remind me of the movie 'Rab ne bana di jodi' or 'Monica & Chandler'. She is outspoken and always bursting with energy (sometimes anger). He is laid back, likes to savour each moment as it comes. He stood by her through all her ups and downs. They argue, but the moment a third person takes either sides, the other jumps and rescues the love of their life.

What brings balance in their lives, there are two reasons I can think of,

1. They love each other. Love has an amazing energy to consider what is good and ignore what is bad. I guess it is true then, Love is blind :).

2. They WANT to be together. Love can happen over and over again, with the same person or someone else. The choice is yours. If you want to spend the rest of your life with someone, then you will fall in love with the same person over and over again. You will find new reasons to appreciate and learn the different shades of the same person.

Now I wish for myself, that I have their happiness throughout my life. I wish to 'He & I' can be 'Compatible Opposites'.

For What its Worth!!!

Life is so full of decisions to be made. It amazes me when I think of all the decisions we make in about a minute, Do I study now? Do I sleep for another hour? Should I diet? Which route should I take to reach home? No matter how insignificant they seem,we are continuously looking at our choices, weighing options and making decisions.

When it comes to the most important decisions in life,I always wish I were a witch who could disapparate anytime she wanted to a place where no one knows her or vaporize into thin air. Life altering decisions are sometimes the most easiest because somewhere deep inside we know what we want, yet we are scared.

My dad once told me that the worst thing a person can do is to be indecisive. He said,'make a decision, right or wrong, stick to it and face the consequences'. Some of us choose to postpone the decision as much as we can, creating an artificial shield, leading us to believe that we're safe.

A realist will face life as it is. An optimist will try to make life better. And a pessimist will live in a dream for as long as possible then blame the world for the pain inflicted on him or her. A bad decision becomes a past that you learn from, but a decision not made is a present and an unpredictable future. The truth is,the reality will hit you in the face sooner or later. To be courageous and face it is definitely the better option.

A very wise man once told me, that I have to choose my past or my future for what its worth. He placed a torn 100 Rupee note in my right palm and a new 100 Rupee note on my left palm. He said one of them is my past and the other is my future. He asked me which I'd like to let go. The wrong judgments made so far has resulted in me treating myself like the torn 100 Rupee Note, It will never yield its worth. The choice is obvious, I carry the note that he placed on my left palm with me wherever I go, It reminds me of my true worth. The future is still left and It is in my hand.

No matter how good or bad the past has been, as the name suggests, its past. Make new choices and don't be scared to take that plunge. Life is beautiful only if you have the courage to see whats new. Even if you make the wrong decision, it becomes the torn 100 Rupee note,if not the actual value,it is still worth something i.e the lesson you learn. Choose the future and keep moving ahead. Trust me, the journey is spectacular.
